Workshop Description: Join us for a unique and enriching workshop aimed at revitalizing the Inupiaq language. This immersive experience will involve:
- Listening to and recording fluent speakers
- Learning the history, status, and structure of the Inupiaq language
- Practicing simple storytelling in Inupiaq
We will focus on language revitalization methods, materials, and techniques, and on strengthening relationships between speakers, teachers, and language learners across generations.
Target Audience: This workshop is open to elders and young people of all ages from the Bering Strait region communities who are interested in reclaiming their native dialects.
